- Incontáveis: * não é usado com a/an; ex: She asked for advice.
* sem plural; ex: Milk is good for you.
* usado com how much, (a) little, much; ex: We don't need much money.
* não é usado com números;
* geralmente se refere a substâcias, qualidades, sentimentos e tipos de atividades.
2- Formação do plural
Substantivo + s ; ex: book -> books
* Substantivo + es (terminados em sh, ch, s, x, z, o); ex: bus -> buses / potato -> potatoes
* Substantivo + ies (terminado em consoante + y); ex: baby -> babies
* irregulares;
ex: child -> children / foot -> feet / man -> men / person -> people / tooth -> teeth /
wife -> wives / ox -> oxen
* sem mudanças. ex: a dozen -> two dozen / a hundred -> two hundred
3- Singular ou plural
- Substantivos + verbos no singular:
* substantivos incontáveis;
ex: weather, health, advice, information, luggage, furniture, money, equipment, knowledge, spaghetti, hair, homework, bread, music, education, etc.
ex: The equipment needs constant maintenance.
* quantidade de dinheiro, tempo ou distância como uma única unidade;
ex: $25 dollars isn't a lot of money to pay for a pair of jeans.
2 miles is a long way to walk.
3 hours is too much time.
* algumas palavras terminadas em (s);
ex: news, politics, mathematics, physics, economics, measles
ex: Politics is not my cup of tea.
- Substantivos + verbos no plural
* Alguns substantivos que "parecem" singular;
ex: people, police...
ex: The police have worked hard to catch the criminals.
* Alguns substantivos que tem só a forma plural.
ex: belongings, clothes, contents, jeans, savings, surroundings
ex: Your jeans are too old.
